Job Description

We are seeking a Transport/Logistics Coordinator to join our team in Wexford, responsible for planning, coordinating, and overseeing transportation activities to ensure efficient movement of goods.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate transportation activities, planning, organizing, and tracking shipments to ensure on-time delivery to customers and between company locations.
  • Liaise with carriers, working with third-party logistics providers, freight forwarders, and transport companies to negotiate rates, book shipments, and resolve transportation issues.
  • Manage schedules and routes, developing and maintaining optimal transport schedules and routes for timely deliveries, considering factors like distance, cost, and delivery windows.
  • Monitor shipment status, tracking shipments from dispatch to delivery using software systems and communication with carriers, resolving delays or unexpected issues promptly.
  • Prepare shipping documentation, including bills of lading, customs paperwork, and invoices, maintaining accurate records for audit and compliance purposes.
  • Analyse and minimize transport costs while ensuring service quality, making recommendations for cost-effective shipping solutions.
  • Ensure all shipments comply with applicable transport, safety, and environmental regulations, including HSE guidelines.
  • Communicate with internal departments and customers to provide status updates, address delivery issues, and manage expectations.
  • Work closely with the warehouse team to coordinate inventory levels, ensuring products are available for shipment.
  • Utilize transport management systems (TMS) and logistics software to plan, execute, and monitor shipments.
  • Evaluate and maintain relationships with transport providers, ensuring they meet company standards and performance metrics.

Key Qualifications and Skills:

  • A degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred.
  • Relevant certification is an advantage.
  • 4+ years of experience in transport coordination, logistics, or a similar role.
  • Experience working with transport management systems (TMS) and other logistics software is highly desirable.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills to manage relationships with carriers and customers.
  • Analytical skills with the ability to optimize routes, reduce costs, and improve efficiency.
  • Problem-solving abilities to handle unexpected transportation challenges.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Knowledge of customs regulations, freight forwarding, and shipping documentation.
