Transport Manager role at La Rousse Foods requires managing transport department operations, ensuring service excellence, and maintaining high standards of safety and quality.

As Transport Manager, you will oversee the direction and coordination of all transportation matters within the department, ensuring budgets are managed, and schedules and routes are organized. You will also ensure that vehicles are safe and meet legal requirements, and that drivers are aware of their duties in relation to standards.

The key responsibilities of this position include:

  • Manage all areas of the transport department to achieve/exceed service level agreements to the highest standards.
  • Control all department costs within agreed budgets and ensure all rotas are reviewed regularly and plans are in place for key periods.
  • Manage all areas of the transport department effectively in order to deliver service excellence, ensuring goods reach customers within the required timescales to maximise shift efficiency.
  • Maintain all company equipment, including vehicles, to a high standard and ensure all relevant records are maintained to conform to legislation.
  • Manage the team of supervisors and drivers, ensuring appraisals, people management, and conduct issues are dealt with, and employees are appraised in line with performance standards.
  • Ensure that all equipment is maintained to company standards and all damages are recorded and stored according to damage procedures.
  • Operate the department in compliance with all company audit and legal standards, including Food Safety, Health & Safety, and Internal Audits.
  • Deputise on behalf of the Operations Manager during times of holiday or absence, and for line managers as required, undertaking additional duties if necessary.
  • Work 5 days a week – Monday to Friday, plus 1 Saturday in 4.

We are looking for:

  • Experience in the food service/distribution environment.
  • Proven track record of exceeding KPIs in a distribution business.
  • Experience working within a team to provide customer service.
