Job Description

Ballymun Regional Youth Resource CLG (BRYR) are seeking to recruit a Board Trustee / Treasurer (Volunteer) Ballymun Regional Youth Resource (BRYR) is a vibrant Youth Work organisation working with 10-24-year olds in Ballymun, Dublin. Our aim is to empower young people from Ballymun & surrounding areas to reach their full potential. We put in place a range of resources that will support them to make a happy, healthy and successful transition to adulthood. We seek to promote health, well-being and resilience at all stages of their development. Board Trustee’s general duties include: Comply with BRYR’s governing document Ensure BRYR is complying with its charitable purpose for the public benefit Act in the best interest of BRYR Act with reasonable care and skill Manage the assets of BRYR. Responsibilities will include: Overseeing the finances of the organisation Working with the Youth Service Manager and Financial Administrator to ensure that the organisation meets its legal financial obligations and that its finances are properly managed Having insight and comprehensive knowledge of charity financial policies and controls best practices; evaluate and monitor the adequacy of current controls and procedures to ensure compliance with best practice principles Financial forecasting and risk analysis Advising the Board on financial implications of proposals, cash flow, and projects Oversight of compliance and risk management in line with usual board responsibilities Being an authorised signatory of the charity Attending Board meetings (Annual General Meeting, General Meetings, and extraordinary general meetings as required) Providing input to the strategic direction of BRYR and contributing insight, oversight, and experience of strategy formulation in the sector Ensuring that BRYR operates in a transparent and fair way Essential Skills/Qualities required: Chartered Accountant with relevant years of professional experience An appreciation of Youth Work An understanding of and commitment to our mission and values Commitment to the highest levels of governance Governance experience is welcomed. Board Meetings: There are 9 Board meetings per year, held on the last Monday of each month (except July, August, and December) at 6:15pm. Trustees also have an opportunity to join sub-committees. Meetings are held in BRYR, The Reco, Ballymun Central Youth Facility, Ballymun, Dublin 11.
