Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY As a commissioning engineer you will be required to work individually and as part of a team taking a leading role in UPS project commissioning, specialist site testing, system fault finding & repairs, providing a high level of technical support at locations across Europe. There is an expectation that this role will include travel abroad as and when required to assist other Market Units deliver their project targets. RESPONSIBILITIES Primary role to undertake UPS project commissioning of any new equipment installed at a variety of both UK and European overseas locations.  Specialist system testing activities which shall include SAT, IST and customer witness acceptance testing.  Compilation of technical reports and procedures associated with specialist testing activities. In case of severe field issue and/or commercial importance, cooperate with local Delivery Organization in organizing and managing field site visits with the required level of technical competency. To become conversant with operation of the Vertiv manufactured product. To work in line with the company HSE policy & all safe working practices. To promote the company image on site by providing a professional service to customers, where necessary instructing site staff on care and operation of the installed equipment. Identify opportunities for equipment, maintenance contracts and replacement UPS, Battery and Capacitor sales. Appropriately and professional respond to all requests for assistance. QUALIFICATIONS                 HNC / HND in Electrical or Electronic engineering or equivalent.               Degree or equivalent in relevant discipline.               10+ years in the Electrical / Electronic Industry or similar.               5+ Years in a UPS field operations role and or customer interfacing role.               Full clean driving licence. PHYSICAL & ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS  Must demonstrate consistent and coherent understanding of Corporate and Departmental policy and apply to their everyday performance and decision making. “Field Operations positions” require a 24 hour commitment and out of hours working in support of service delivery issues is necessary. Overseas travel will be required which will include staying away from home for varying durations, working away will be the default working position.  The ability to flex working hours is essential.
