Lead a team responsible for sourcing pharmaceutical products, driving margin growth, and developing strategic plans to position Optum pharmacies as leaders in their respective segments.

As the Sourcing Strategy & Analytics Leader, you will be responsible for leading activities with wholesalers and working directly with pharmaceutical manufacturers for Brand, Specialty, Biosimilars and Generic product categories on behalf of our enterprise-wide Pharmacy Care Services business.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure unmatched product access, consistent and cost-efficient sourcing of $40 billion in pharmaceutical product to maintain the most competitive cost position for Optum Rx's enterprise-wide Pharmacy businesses.
  • Drive margin growth for the Pharmacy Care Services business through the strategic and targeted execution of product sourcing and channel strategies across the Brand, Specialty, Biosimilar, and Generic product classes.
  • Develop and lead a team accountable for data analytics, engagement strategy, product and channel strategy, business insight/analytics, and commercial data products for drug manufacturers.
  • Inform analytics related to contracting activities with manufacturers and distributors ensuring the most competitive pricing, terms, and related margin drivers.
  • Develop and deliver centralized analytics to support the optimal operations of the Optum Pharmacies.
  • Collaborate with Optum Pharmacies and Optum Business Entities to develop a strategic sourcing plan to position Optum pharmacies as leaders in their respective segments.
  • Work closely with the SVP and Finance team to deliver regular Buy side & Financial reporting highlighting Optum Rx's Sourcing & Trade Relations performance over regular intervals.
  • Work closely with Finance, Treasury, Compliance, Industry and Network Relations, legal and other constituents to ensure sourcing activity and ORx Sourcing remains compliant, competitive, proactive and coordinated.
  • Participate in the development of operational budgets in support of the Sourcing organization.

This role requires strong communication skills, functional knowledge, relationship building and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced atmosphere.

Required Qualifications:

  • Experience in a comparable role with one or more innovative and successful healthcare product-oriented companies.
  • Management experience leading multiple teams.
  • Experience with strategic sourcing and cost reduction initiatives and/or analytics in the following areas; Pharmacy Supply Chain, PBM, Wholesaler, or Pharma Manufacturer.
  • Background partnering with business stakeholders, leveraging standardized business processes, data & analytics with a focus on continuous improvement.
  • Experience developing networks, collaborating and influencing cross functionally.
  • Experience leading and developing a geographically dispersed, high performing team.
  • Demonstrated operational discipline, financial acumen, and rigor.
  • Ability to operate with flexibility in a changing business and government regulated environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated proficiency in contract negotiations and collaborative partnerships with pharmaceutical manufacturers and/or distributors.
  • Experience in buy-side analysis, modeling, supplier risk management, and service level requirements across the pharmaceutical segment.
  • Master's degree or equivalent work experience.
