Warehouse Operative required to manage car parts distribution, ensuring efficient handling, storage, and dispatch to meet customer demands.
We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Warehouse Operative to join our distribution team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Receiving and Unloading Deliveries:
- Receive and check incoming deliveries of car parts, ensuring quantities and specifications match purchase orders.
- Unload, sort, and organize parts using warehouse handling equipment (e.g., pallet jacks, forklifts).
- Safely store parts in the designated warehouse areas according to company guidelines.
- Picking and Packing Orders:
- Accurately pick car parts from storage locations based on customer orders or internal requests.
- Ensure correct packaging of items to prevent damage during transit, adhering to specific packaging instructions for fragile components.
- Label and prepare orders for dispatch, ensuring all relevant documentation is included (invoices, delivery notes, etc.).
- Stock Management:
- Conduct regular inventory checks and stock counts to ensure accurate records are maintained.
- Monitor stock levels of car parts and report low or excess stock to the Warehouse Manager.
- Assist in organizing and managing the warehouse layout to optimize space and efficiency.
- Distribution and Dispatch:
- Coordinate with couriers and delivery drivers to ensure timely and accurate dispatch of orders.
- Prepare shipping documents and ensure all car parts are properly labeled with tracking information.
- Load vehicles with outgoing car parts in a safe and secure manner.
- Health and Safety:
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized warehouse environment by following safety regulations and procedures.
- Ensure all equipment (e.g., forklifts, pallet jacks) is used safely and maintained properly.
- Wear and use personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
- General Warehouse Duties:
- Assist in general warehouse operations, including loading and unloading vehicles, moving stock, and maintaining a clean working environment.
- Support warehouse colleagues and management with additional tasks as needed.
- Communicate effectively with team members and management to resolve any issues or discrepancies.
Requirements:
- Experience working in a warehouse environment, preferably in the automotive sector or dealing with car parts.
- Basic understanding of car parts and automotive components is an advantage.
- Forklift license (counterbalance or reach) is preferred but not essential.
- Ability to operate warehouse equipment such as pallet jacks, trolleys, and forklifts safely and efficiently.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in handling orders and inventory.
- Good organizational skills with the ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Basic IT skills for using warehouse management systems and scanning tools.
- Physically fit and able to lift and move heavy items.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous experience in car parts distribution or a similar role.
- Familiarity with inventory management software or warehouse management systems (WMS).
- Health and safety training or certification (e.g., Manual Handling, COSHH).
Working Conditions:
- Full-time, with standard warehouse shifts and the possibility of overtime during busy periods.
- The role involves standing, lifting, and moving car parts throughout the shift.
- The warehouse environment may require working in varying temperatures.
