Senior Infrastructure Engineer for z/OS Systems

Unum Technology Centre in Carlow is seeking a highly experienced Senior Infrastructure Engineer to lead the installation and customization of IBM and third-party software on z/OSMF or vendor-specific platforms.

About the Role

  • Lead the team in the installation and customization of software
  • Provide mentoring to others inside and outside the team
  • Research and evaluate software products
  • Ensure 24/7 business reliability, availability, and scalability
  • Support capacity planning, disaster recovery, and other critical functions

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience working with z/OS Operating System and its components
  • Comprehensive knowledge of z/Enterprise server technology, software technology, systems analysis, research techniques, systems development standards, and quality and cost controls
  • Advanced knowledge of z/OS operating system components, SYSPLEX, CICS/TS, DB2, TSO, JES2, WLM, and interaction
  • Skilled at JCL and REXX
  • 5+ years of IODF configuration changes and generation
  • Knowledge of multiple software components, including SMPE, HCD/IODF, JES2, VTAM, TCP/IP, TSO/ISPF, SYNCSORT, SDSF, SMF, WLM, RACF, Web Sphere MQ, z/OSMF, and various OEM system software
  • 10+ years of mainframe server installation experience
  • Strong communication, analytical, and organizational skills
  • Able to install and integrate third-party software
  • Able to document troubleshoot problems and communicate with business and technical personnel at all levels
  • Able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Understanding and use of cloud technologies
  • RACF security components, concepts, and understanding
